The agricultural census in Uzbekistan has clarified the boundaries and land-use categories of nearly 1 million hectares that had previously gone unrecorded in official statistics.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the census results on September 2, along with a set of proposals aimed at accelerating reforms to the national statistics system. According to the presentation, the census clarified the boundaries and categories of 985,500 hectares of previously unregistered land. Of that total, 789,500 hectares were classified as cropland, 14,100 hectares as greenhouse space, 75,300 hectares as orchards, 21,400 hectares as vineyards, and 85,000 hectares as fish farms.
Officials said the census findings will form the basis for continuously updated statistical registers covering both population and agriculture. As part of this effort, 100 indicators tied to socioeconomic development programs and 50 indicators related to agriculture and cultivated land will be revised.
National accounts data for the period 2017–2025 will also be reassessed. Mirziyoyev instructed relevant agencies to conduct an in-depth analysis of the census results and incorporate the findings into the development of future state programs.
The presentation also outlined plans to modernize the national statistics system through 2030. Officials announced that a National Data Platform is set to launch by July 1, 2027, and approved a proposal to carry out a nationwide business census between October 15 and November 30, 2026.
