President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, by his August 14 decree appointed Ruslanbek Davletov as new Minister of Justice. Earlier Davletov was the first deputy state adviser to the President responsible for protection of rights of citizens, control and coordinate the work with letters from natural and legal persons.

From August 5-13, Namangan city hosted the regular meetings and talks of working groups of the Uzbek-Kyrgyz intergovernmental commission on delimitation and demarcation of the state boundary.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev appointed Miragzam Mirkasimov as new Almalyk city mayor. The previous mayor was dismissed after the President’s August 11 visit to Almalyk and its environs.

Uzbek Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov today met the head of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy in Central Asia (UNRCCA) Petko Draganov, who arrived in Tashkent to participate in the Central Asia - Uzbekistan's Top Foreign Policy Priority conference, the Foreign Ministry reports.

Bakhtiyor Sayfullaev has been appointed as Culture minister of Uzbekistan, replacing Mahmud Muratov, who ran the ministry since February, 2017, a source in the government said.

The population of Uzbekistan as of July 1 stood at 32.345 million people, an increase by 224.5 thousand from 31 December 2016, or by 0.7%. The urban population is 16.353 million (or 50.6% of total population), and the rural population is 15.9 million (49.4%), the Statistics Committee announced on its website.
