President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, by his August 14 decree appointed Ruslanbek Davletov as new Minister of Justice. Earlier Davletov was the first deputy state adviser to the President responsible for protection of rights of citizens, control and coordinate the work with letters from natural and legal persons.

Bakhtiyor Sayfullaev has been appointed as Culture minister of Uzbekistan, replacing Mahmud Muratov, who ran the ministry since February, 2017, a source in the government said.

The population of Uzbekistan as of July 1 stood at 32.345 million people, an increase by 224.5 thousand from 31 December 2016, or by 0.7%.
