From November 1, the Navoi automobile checkpoint in Tashkent province on the border wit Kazakhstan (Kaplanbek in Turkestan province) will be closed for a period of 19 months due to modernization on the Kazakh side, reported the press service of the Tashkent province governor’s office.

In August, the cjief of the State Revenue Committee (SRC) of Kazakhstan, Daniyar Zhanalinov, reported that in 2022-2023 it was planned to modernize and re-equip nine automobile (including Kaplanbek), one railway checkpoint and Main Dispatch Office of the SRC in Astana.

As a result, according to the estimates side, it is expected to increase the throughput of checkpoints up to 8 times and reduce the time of their passage from 2 hours to 25 minutes. While also, measures will be implemented to automate business processes, centralize customs control and minimize corruption risks, he noted.
