President Shavkat Mirziyoyev hosted the Acting Minister of Industry and Trade of Afghanistan Nooruddin Azizi, who landed in Tashkent to attend the Tashkent International Investment Forum. Wednesday, the presidential press service said.

Reportedly, the minister conveyed greetings from the Afghan leadership to the leader of Uzbekistan.

The parties discussed the ways to expand cooperation in trade and economic, transport and logistics, energy and agricultural sectors, as well as in the field of geological exploration and mining.

The parties welcomed the intensification of business contacts, the growth of bilateral trade and the number of joint ventures, the regular holding of business missions and exhibitions with the participation of companies from the two countries, the successful operation of the International Trade Center in Termez. While, Uzbekistan inaugurated trading houses in Kabul and Mazar-i-Sharif in May.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized the importance of strengthening the legal framework for economic and investment cooperation and pointed to the need for the swift possible construction of the Hairaton Industrial Center and the launching of production lines for pharmaceuticals, furniture, textiles, construction materials, as well as for the processing of agricultural products.

He also voiced support for the large regional infrastructure projects, such as the Trans-Afghan Railway and the Surkhan-Pol-e-Khumri power transmission line project.
