Uzatom and the French Assystem signed a memorandum of intent, which stipulates the creation of a joint venture in Tashkent, the press service of Uzatom said.
The new entity shall provide technical support for projects in the field of civil nuclear energy, including the small-scale nuclear plant project in Jizzakh province.
As part of the memorandum, the parties agreed on strategic partnership that will cover engineering consulting, support for design solutions, their adaptation to local conditions and support in the field of safety and commissioning.
According to the chief of Uzatom Azim Akhmedkhadjaev, the agreement with Assystem creates a technical basis to implement Uzbekistan's plans in the nuclear energy.
Assystem is one of the largest independent engineering companies globally world, specializing in nuclear energy projects. Headquartered in Paris, it has extensive experience in supporting complex infrastructure projects at all stages of the life cycle - from design to commissioning.
Assystem is involved in almost all major international nuclear projects, including projects with various type reactors - both pressurized water and advanced low-power solutions.
