Uzbekistan has reopened access to the social network TikTok, internet users said. TikTok was blocked in July by the state inspection authority Uzkomnazorat for "violation of legal requirements in the processing of personal data of Uzbek citizens." Simultaneously were blockedTwitter, VKontakte and the Skype messenger.
Access to TikTok resumed shortly after the chairman of the board of trustees of Public Fund for Development and Support of National Mass Media Komil Allamzhonov (former chief of Information and Mass Communications Agency and the president's spokesman) announced that he was holding talks with the leadership of the TikTok.
“If TikTok is harmful for some in Uzbekistan, then we need to turn it into a useful resource. I think that nobody will profit restricting access to such companies, but we need to work closely with them, to establish cooperation,” he wrote in his Telegram channel.
“To that end, we had a very productive online meeting today with Dr. Theo Bertram, VP at TikTok, and other senior company officials. At the meeting we discussed the ties," Allamzhonov said.
“I suggested that TikTok executives adapt some of their internal norms and procedures to be in line with the Uzbek values and customs, our mentality. They emphasized that they were ready to take into account this proposal, cooperate in this area, and also add the Uzbek language” he noted.
The postscript to the message says "Cooperation has begun."
Currently, TikTok is on the list of violators of the rights of subjects of personal data.
