Taliban positively assessed the trips of their delegations to Uzbekistan, Russia and Qatar, stated on Saturday the Deputy Minister of Information and Culture in the caretaker Afghan Cabinet of Ministers Zabihullah Mujahid.
"We highly appreciate the visits of the delegations to Uzbekistan, Russia and Qatar. These trips have yielded positive results," the Taliban spokesman said at a press conference in Kabul, broadcast by the local TV channel Ariana News, TASS reported.
“Issues of border security, transit and cooperation at customs were discussed in Uzbekistan.”
“In Moscow, attention was paid to three main issues: maintaining stability in Afghanistan, unfreezing Afghan assets and supporting the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) by the countries of the region.”
“In Qatar, at a meeting between Foreign Minister Amir Khan Mottaki and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, agreements were reached on expanding trade between the two countries, in particular on the supply of pine nuts to China," Mujahid added.
Answering the question about the lack of recognition of the caretaker government formed by the Taliban, the representative of the Taliban once again pointed out that the Taliban had performed all the conditions necessary for this. "First of all, this is the legitimate right of our people. And I am convinced that not only Afghanistan needs this, but all countries also need to recognize the IEA government as soon as possible," he said.
On October 16, representatives of the caretaker cabinet of ministers of Afghanistan, formed by the Taliban, held consultations with members of the Uzbek government in Termez. As a result of the negotiations, working groups were formed to resolve issues of mutual interest.
On October 20, the third meeting in the Moscow format on Afghanistan was held in Moscow. It was created in 2017 on the basis of a six-party consultation mechanism of the special envoys of Russia, Afghanistan, India, Iran, China and Pakistan. As noted in the statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry following the meeting, the participants in the consultations emphasized the importance of forming an inclusive government in Afghanistan.
On October 25 and 26, Taliban representatives held meetings with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. During the dialogue, the parties agreed to hold regular meetings and create a joint mechanism in the future to further expand cooperation in various fields.
