Information about the pollution of the Chirchik River has surfaced on social networks. The Tashkent province environmental department commented on the situation.
Photographer Evgeny Chubko wrote that the water in the river turned black and smelly, and the contrast between clean and polluted areas is visible in satellite images. A foul-smelling liquid has been flowing into the river through a ditch several meters wide for many years, coloring it purple and crimson.
A working group has been created together with the Department and relevant organizations to study the complaint.
Currently, officials of the Division of Environmental Monitoring, Climate Change and Combating Desertification of the Department have taken samples from the Chirchik River for analysis.
In August of this year, an inspection will be carried out jointly with the Kibray District Department of Tashkentvodosnabzhenie JSC. Additional information will be provided on the findings of the inspection.
Earlier during the raid by environmental inspectors on the Chirchik River, an illegal dump was discovered.
