Dry grass caught fire in a hilly area of Burchmulla forestry in Bostanlyk district of Tashkent province Thursday. The press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that the signal about the forest fire was received at about 13:00.
Fire and rescue units of Tashkent province emergency department, forestry employees and the military units of the Ministry of Defense arrived at the scene. Air Force helicopters were involved.
The fire was reportedly extinguished at 17:12.
This is the second fire in the Bostanlyk mountains in the past week. On July 24, a fire engulfed dry grass and bushes on an area of about 2 hectares in Khodjikent. Air Force helicopters were also involved in extinguishing the fire.
On July 23, a large fire occurred in the Surkhan nature reserve - the fire engulfed about 5 hectares. The extinguishing took more than 8 hours, and military helicopters were also involved.
Uzbekcosmos reported in early July that since the end of May, the area of field fires in Uzbekistan has surpassed 14.5 thousand hectares.
