On October 27, the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with the Chinese President Xi Jinping, the presidential press service said.
Reportedly, at the beginning of the conversation, Xi Jinping cordially congratulated the president on the successful holding and convincing victory in the elections.
The parties reviewed the ways to further advance the Uzbek-Chinese ties of comprehensive strategic partnership.
“The sides also commended the current level of trusting dialogue, the ongoing development of bilateral ties and the intensification of mutual exchanges in accordance with the agreements reached in the course of high-level contacts in April this year. In the political sphere, the President expressed his unwavering support for the "policy of one China" and the decisive struggle against the "three forces of evil" - terrorism, extremism and separatism.
In addition, Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed gratitude to the Chinese leader for their great practical assistance in countering the coronavirus pandemic, including timely deliveries and joint production of vaccines.
In turn, Chairman Xi Jinping stressed that China firmly supports the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Uzbekistan, as well as the ongoing program of socio-economic transformations in the country. In the trade and economic sphere, the leaders noted a noticeable increase in trade turnover indicators. To promote the supply of demanded products to the Chinese market, primarily agricultural products, an agreement was reached on the active participation of Uzbekistan in the fourth international exhibition of imported goods, which will be held in November this year in Shanghai.
The parties paid particular attention to the preparation of a five-year program of trade and economic cooperation, including strategic projects, including in the field of innovation, artificial intelligence, digital technologies and e-commerce and set the exchange of experience and knowledge in poverty reduction issues as a key area of interaction. Much attention was paid to the practical implementation of the provisions of the memorandum signed by the authorized departments of the two countries this month.
The two leaders China called for the development of a system of efficient transport routes connecting China with the region and forming the Eurasian transcontinental transit corridor within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative. Opportunities for expanding cooperation in the field of science and education, health care and vaccination of the population, sports, tourism, culture and other areas were noted.
“Shavkat Mirziyoyev sincerely wished his colleague and the friendly people of China the successful holding of the Winter Olympic Games in Beijing in 2022. It was agreed to hold the next meeting of the Uzbek-Chinese Intergovernmental Committee by the end of this year, as well as to prepare a joint program to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations,” the press service said.
The parties also exchanged views on the international agenda and issues of regional cooperation. The head of state supported the global development initiative put forward by the Chinese leader at the site of the United Nations General Assembly. In addition, the parties agreed to continue a close dialogue within the framework of the activities of the World Health Organization and other UN institutions.
