The chief of Uzbekistan’s mission to NATO, the Ambassador Dilyor Khakimov met with the newly appointed NATO’s Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Politics and Security, the Special Representative for Central Asia and the Caucasus Javier Kolomina, Dunyo reported.

During the conversation, Dilyor Khakimov highlighted that Uzbekistan regards NATO as an important partner in countering modern security threats and advocates the development of cooperation on the entire range of issues of mutual interest.

He added that in the process of development of the Armed Forces of Uzbekistan, issues of increasing professional knowledge and skills, intellectual and psychological training of military personnel are of great importance.

“One of the important directions in this area is the further expansion of military and military-technical cooperation with foreign partners,” he said at the meeting.

The meeting also discussed the state and prospects of cooperation between Uzbekistan and NATO in the framework of the Partnership for Peace program.
