On September 16, in Dushanbe, Shavkat Mirziyoyev held talks with the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Imran Khan, the presidential press service said.
Reportedly, the parties considered issues of implementation of agreements on the advancing of Uzbek-Pakistani multifaceted cooperation, reached during the summit of the two leaders in Tashkent in July.
They highlighted that year-to-date, the two-way trade has increased 2.5 times, with over 30 new joint ventures set up, and the air service Tashkent and Lahore resumed.
The parties also emphasized the importance of further joint efforts to facilitate the expansion of business exchanges, namely the swift adoption of a preferential trade agreement, the implementation of the provisions of the transit and trade deal, the implementation of investment projects in various sectors of the economy in accordance with the adopted "roadmap".
During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on the situation in the region in the context of the current situation in Afghanistan. An agreement was reached to continue close cooperation on issues of ensuring regional security.
As part of the first day of his visit to Dushanbe, the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev also met with President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ibrahim Raisi.
At the beginning of the conversation, Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulated the Iranian President on his election, wishing him great success in his responsible work.
The parties focused on expanding cooperation, underscoring that since the beginning of the year, there has been a steady growth in the two-way trade figures, with business projects in the field of agriculture, poultry and fish farming, food industry and other industries being successfully implemented.
In order to support the dynamics of trade and economic ties and identify new "points of growth", an agreement was reached to step up the activities of the joint intergovernmental commission.
In addition, at the level of authorized departments, the prospects for strengthening industrial cooperation on the basis of the "road map", as well as the possibility of effectively using the transit potential of the two countries, will be thoroughly studied.
