From August 30, the train frequency will be increased in the Tashkent metro, the press service of Uzbekistan Railways said in a statement. The trains on the Chilonzor line will run with a 3-minute interval from 7:30 to 9:00 and with a 4-minute interval from 16:30 to 19:30.
While, the trains on the Uzbekistan line will run with a 4-minute interval from 7:30 to 9:00 and with a 5-minute interval from 16:30 to 19:30.
The decision to change the train timetables was made due to the expected increase in passenger traffic during the beginning of the academic year and numerous requests from passengers, the statement added.
Uzbekistan Railways also announced details of the delivery of 20 new metro cars, which are expected due in the end of August. Five trains will be formed from the carriages. They will significantly unload the Chilonzor line, which has the largest passenger traffic, the company added. By the end of the year, another 20 metro cars will be delivered to the capital.
New cars were dispatched from Russia to Uzbekistan on 20 August. The rolling stock was produced at the Metrowagonmash enterprise (part of Transmashholding).
The Tashkent Metro and VEB.RF signed a loan agreement for the supply of 40 metro cars in April 2021, according to the website of the Russian state corporation. The volume of the credit line is EUR 30.4 million, which are provided for a period of up to 12 years.
