The Deputy Prime Minister Sardor Umrzakov hosted the EU Special Representative for Central Asia Teri Hakala, Dunyo said on Tuesday.
The parties reportedly discussed the current state and prospects of political, diplomatic, trade, economic, investment, financial, technical, transport and logistics, cultural and humanitarian relations between Uzbekistan and the EU, as well as regional cooperation, taking into account the situation in Afghanistan.
The parties also expressed mutual readiness to continue dialogue on key areas of cooperation. The EU Special Representative reiterated commitment to provide practical assistance to Uzbekistan in the process of accession to the World Trade Organization. Sha also expressed confidence that the agreement between Uzbekistan and the EU on the draft on Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement will be completed soon.
The parties identified priority areas of cooperation in the post-COVID period to increase the two-way trade between Uzbekistan and EU member states, including through the use of the GSP + system of preferences and the implementation of joint programs in the cultural and humanitarian areas.
