Negotiations on the launch of the production unit for the Chinese-Uzbek vaccine against coronavirus, ZF-UZ-VAC-2001 in Uzbekistan were held on July 24 at the Ministry of Innovative Development.

According to the ministry, the discussion was attended by Minister of Innovative Development Ibrohim Abdurakhmonov, Director of the Pharmaceutical Industry Agency Development Sardor Kariev and representatives of Jurabek Laboratories, from the Chinese side - Chief Engineer of Anhui Zhifei Longcom Biopharmaceutical Wang Zhi Xiong, Director of the Export Department Chen Fang and others.

Representatives of Anhui Zhifei Longcom Biopharmaceutical “highly valued Uzbekistan’s contribution to the clinical trials of the ZF-UZ-VAC-2001 vaccine, as well as the open and transparent approach of the Uzbek authorities,” the statement said.

The Chinese partners also highly appreciated the infrastructure potential for the production of coronavirus vaccines in Uzbekistan. Wang Zhi Xiong noted that production facilities in the country fully meet the requirements for vaccine production, the report said.

At the meeting, preliminary agreements were reached on the timing and volumes of supplies from China of raw materials for the production of vaccines in Uzbekistan. The launch date for production has not been specified, but it is said that it should happen "shortly." At the first stage, the possibility of producing 10 million doses of vaccines per month is being considered, then it is planned to increase this figure to 200 million doses per year.

In order to improve the qualifications of scientists and specialists of Uzbekistan in the field of vaccine production technology, it is planned to begin simultaneous training in China and Uzbekistan in the near future.

To date, Uzbekistan has received 7.5 million doses of ZF-UZ-VAC-2001 vaccine. The last batch was delivered on July 20.
