The Central Election Commission (CEC) made this decision on Friday assigning the October 24 as the day of the presidential elections in Uzbekistan.

On July 23 was announced as the start date of election campaign and the program of the main election events was approved. 

The CEC Chairman Zainiddin Nizamhodjaev underscored that "the presidential elections will be held on the basis of the new national electoral legislation in accordance with generally recognized international standards, as well as democratic principles - openly and publicly." 

According to him, currently the e-voter list includes almost 21 million people. 

Earlier, the CEC approved the cost estimate for the October presidential elections in Uzbekistan standing at 300 billion soums. Each party will receive 15.4 billion soums for holding pre-election events, and each candidate will get 3 billion soums.
