Timur Ishmetov was appointed Minister of Finance replacing Jamshid Kuchkarov, a source in the government told the Tashkent Times. The appointment took place at a government meeting chaired by the PM Abdulla Aripov.

Timur Ishmetov, 40, has a undergraduate degree from Tashkent Institute of Finances (2000), and graduate degrees of Birmingham University (2005) and Tashkent Law University (2007).

He began his career in 2000 as an economist at the Central Bank, where he worked in various positions, including the chief of the Department of Monetary Operations, the Department of International Reserves Management, the Department of Operations in the Domestic Foreign Exchange Market and the Department of Currency Regulation and Control of the Central Bank. In 2017-2019, he served as First Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank. Since May 2019, he had worked as the First Deputy Minister of Finance.

Jamshid Kuchkarov, who worked since November 2017 as Deputy Prime Minister/Minister of Finance, retained the post of Deputy PM, became the Minister of Economy and Industry. He will be in charge for finance, economy and poverty reduction.

Jamshid Kuchkarov, 55, graduated from the Tashkent Institute of Economy (1985) and the (1996). He holds a PhD in Economics. He served as Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank (1996−1997), Deputy Minister of Finance/Head of the Main Department of the State Budget of the Ministry of Finance (1997−2005), Deputy Minister of Finance (2005−2016), First Deputy Minister of Finance (until 2017).

Since November 2017, the previous Minister of Economy, Botir Khodjaev became adviser to the Prime Minister on industry and cooperation.

Former adviser to the Prime Minister for Industry and Cooperation, Nodir Otajonov retained the position of Chairman of Uzagrotehsanoathholding.
