Mehriddin Abdullaev was appointed chairman of the board of JSC Uzbekneftegaz, replacing Bahodir Sidiqov, who was reportedly moved to another role, the company said in a statement.
Mehriddin Abdullaev, 50, since December 2017 had served as the first deputy chairman of the Accounts Chamber. He graduated from the Tashkent State Economic University (1993) and the Tashkent State Law Institute (2005).
Earlier, in 2016, he worked as the first deputy Bukhara province governor, he was in charge of administrative issues, coordinating the activities of law enforcement agencies, self-government bodies and youth policy, and after reform of the management structure of governor offices in 2017, he had been in charge of economic and business issues.
In 2010-2012, he was the Executive Director of the off-budget Pension Fund under the Ministry of Finance, in 2012-2015 - the Deputy Minister of Finance, in 2015-2016 - the Executive Director of the Republican Road Fund under the Ministry of Finance.
In 2006-2010, he worked as first deputy chairman of the board of the National Bank of Uzbekistan, in 2003-2006 he headed the main department of the Central Bank for the Bukhara province.
Mehriddin Abdullaev is the fourth chief of Uzbekneftegaz over the past 15 months. His predeccessor, Bahodir Sidiqov, was in charge from February 2019 to January 2020, replacing Bahrom Ashrafkhonov (September 2018 to February 2019), who, in turn, replaced Alisher Sultanov.
