Uzavtosanoat and PSA Group have differences with relation to the implementation of the commercial vehicles production unit project in Jizzakh province.
“It is important for us not only to manufacture cars, but we also strive to build capacity in the future. It is important to manufacture a model, to increase production and to facilitate expansion to foreign and domestic markets. In this regard, there was a difference on this point,” said Shukhrat Mirsamukov, head of department for spare parts export and after-sales services at Uzavtosanoat.
He noted that Uzavtosanoat was willing to defend its interests to the very end and added that cars manufactured were in demand, and that production would bring new technological and engineering expertise to the country.
“This is the most important thing for us. If we fail to find a compromise (with PSA Groupe), we will seek for another investor. The situation will become clearer by the end of the year,” Mirsamukov noted.
According to the initial plan, the Peugeot-Citroen plant in Jizzakh was supposed to be launched in December 2018. The € 133 million project was designed to manufacture a total of 16,000 Peugeot Expert and Peugeot Boxer cars annually.
