Uzbekistan may start manufacturing green hydrogen as early as June, announced the Energy Minister Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov at the Uzbekistan Energy Week UEW-2025, which kicked off on Tuesday at the CAEx Exhibition Complex in Tashkent.

In November 2023, the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev launched the green pilot hydrogen production unit project in the Tashkent province with the investment by ACWA Power (Saudi Arabia). As part of this $88 million project, 3,000 tons of green hydrogen is scheduled to manufactured in phase I in 2025.
According to Uzkimyosanoat, the Chirchik project’s phase II envisages the production of up to 500 thousand tons of ammonia annually from green hydrogen, as well as the creation of a park of wind power plants with 2.4 GW total capacity.
According to estimates, Uzbekistan will be one of the first in the world to produce mineral fertilizers from green hydrogen, which will decarbonize this sector of the economy and to market products with high added value abroad.
