The Prime Ministers of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan held a trilateral meeting at the junction of the borders of the three countries - in the Batken province of Kyrgyzstan, the Fergana province of Uzbekistan and the Sughd province of Tajikistan, the press service of the Kyrgyz government reported.
The PMs underscored that this meeting is taking place within the framework of previously reached Treatys on state borders between the heads of state of the three countries, who "had always emphasized the desire to strengthen cooperation and provincial integration."
Reportedly, they emphasized that the countries had untapped potential for enhancing cooperation in key areas such as trade, logistics, water and energy, and cultural and humanitarian ties. An important component of cooperation, in their opinion, is the development of cross-border and interprovincial cooperation, which would become the driver for stepping up interaction between the countries.
In addition, the meeting underscored the completion of the process of delimitation of the state border between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan and the exchange of instruments of ratification of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek State Border Treaty.
The December 4, 2024 Kyrgyzstan-Tajikistan state border Treaty underscored the particular importance of completing the process of describing the remaining sections of the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border; working groups need to prepare final documents as soon as possible.
Following the meeting, the heads of government expressed confidence that today's meeting "would determine the fate of the region for decades to come in the interests of the well-being of peoples and countries".
The meeting of heads of state, which will take place in the future, will contribute to the development of good-neighborly relations and multifaceted partnership between the fraternal countries, the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan added.
The Uzbek delegation also included Energy Minister Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov, Commander of the Border Troops of the State Security Service, Salimjon Khusanov, Minister of Construction and Housing and Public Utilities, Sherzod Khidoyatov, the Fergana Province governor Khairullo Bozorov and Chairman of the Customs Committee, Akmalhuja Mavlonov.
