President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed the Additional measures to improve state control in the field of industrial, radiation, and nuclear safety Decree, outlining plans to join international nuclear safety treaties, and establish new inspections bodies within the Committee for Industrial, Radiation, and Nuclear Safety.
These include the Navoi, Almalyk, Bekabad, and Railway inspection bodies.
In particular, from July 1, 2025, fines will be applied to legal entities for violations of industrial safety standards at hazardous production sites, as well as for breaches of radiation and nuclear safety regulations and rules for operation of amusement rides.
Additionally, Uzbekistan will join the following international treaties: the Vienna Convention on Civil Liability for Nuclear Damage, the Convention on Assistance in the Event of a Nuclear or Radiological Emergency, the Convention on Early Notification of a Nuclear Accident, and the Convention on Nuclear Safety.
In 2025, it is also envisaged that Chemical Safety Bill, Industrial Safety of Hazardous Production Facilities Bill, and Radioactive Waste Management Bill will be developed.
