Shavkat Mirziyoyev, at a recent meeting devoted to reforms in education system, pointed to the need to introduce school uniforms.
"Given our Uzbek mentality, we need to introduce uniforms in schools and colleges. For example, in Turkey and England, 100% of schools have uniforms. This however does not mean that we should copy their experience.“
“Now parents are buying some sort of dresses (black and white), but they are of poor quality and expensive, right? And, this is absolutely not satisfactory. School uniforms play a valuable role in contributing to the ethos of schools, support positive behaviour, discipline and moral values. Secondly, the lack of uniforms may lead to neglect by pupils from wealthy families towards poorly dressed pupils. This is what we must eradicate. After school, they may wear clothes made of gold if they wish. If, we accomplish this, then we will have made a step towards a fairer and more equal society," the President said.
