The number of Uzbek students at U.S. colleges and universities reached 530, a 7.8% increase from the previous year, with the total number of international students topping 1 million for the first time, paced by a surge of graduate students in sciences, engineering and math from India.

Musical ensemble Sookmyung Gayageum Orchestra playing in the Korean instrument gayageum - and breakdance group B-boy performed in Tashkent with a concert entitled "All for one."

Turkish Art Gallery in Istanbul hosted an exhibition of works of Uzbek painters. The exhibition, co-organized by the Uzbek Embassy in Ankara with the City of Istanbul, features the paintings of Uzbek artists, in different genres - landscapes, naturemortes and portraits, and have caused genuine interest of the Turkish public. 

The Nobel Prize in Literature for 2016 is awarded to Bob Dylan “for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition”. 

On 15 and 16 October Tashkent hosted the traditional youth festival Tashkent-Urbania 2016, it said in a statement of NIA Turkistan Press.

October 5-7 the capital's UzExpoCentre will host the 22th edition of the Tashkent International Tourism Fair- Tourism on the Silk Road. The largest tourism forum of in Central Asia held since 1995.

The concert program includes works by Shostakovich, Williams, Caccini and Boyarskaya. The concert honoring the International Holocaust Remembrance Day is organized by the Embassies of Israel and Germany, and the Delegation of the European Union in Uzbekistan.
