Tashkent will host the 2027 World Fencing Championships on July 20 to 28, 2027. This was announced on November 30 at the Congress of the International Fencing Federation (FIE), the press service of the National Olympic Committee said.
The competition will provide major points play for qualification to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games from July 14 to 30.
At the same congress in Tashkent, Uzbek-native Russian businessman Alisher Usmanov was elected president of the International Fencing Federation.
In addition, the Secretary General of the Uzbekistan Fencing Federation Gulnara Saidova joined the organization's Executive Committee.
The event also included an awards ceremony for the year. Mexican-native, member of the Uzbekistan national sabre team, Fernanda Herrera, who is expected to finished the year in the top spot of the world youth ranking, was awarded a prize.
