Uzbekistan has lost the right to host the 2025 Asian Youth Games scheduled in Tashkent have been relocated to Bahrain, the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) said today on its X page.
“3rd Asian Youth Games relocated to Bahrain in 2025. The OCA has announced the cancellation of the 3rd Asian Youth Games originally scheduled for Tashkent, Uzbekistan.,” the statement said.
Uzbekistan received the right to host the 2025 Asian Youth Games following the decision of the OCA in Doha in September 2019. On August 8, 2020, the Cabinet of Ministers approved a resolution on measures to prepare for the Games.
In November 2022, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev laid the first stone in the foundation of the Olympic village, which was being built for the Youth Games. The project cost was estimated at over $289 million. After the competitions, the complex was planned to house the Ministry of Sports, a sports academy and sports federations.
