Uzbekistan’s embassy in Saudi Arabia has urged citizens in the country, or planning to travel there, to take precautions because of regional tension and changes in air traffic, the Dunyo news agency reported.
The embassy said the internal situation in Saudi Arabia is stable, with no threats to public safety or special restrictions recorded.
It warned, however, that the wider situation in the region could affect flight logistics, transit routes and waiting times. Flights could be delayed, passengers could be moved onto other flights, or routes could be changed, it said.
Travelers were advised to account for possible changes to flight schedules, routes and transit rules when planning trips abroad.
Citizens were also told to stay away from border areas between Saudi Arabia and Yemen and to follow local authorities’ security instructions strictly.
The embassy urged citizens not to film military sites or the aftermath of incidents, not to spread unverified information, to rely on official sources and to carry identity documents at all times.
Citizens can contact Uzbekistan’s diplomatic missions in Saudi Arabia if necessary, it said.
Earlier, a plane was reported to have caught fire at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh after Yemen’s Houthis said they had launched a missile attack on the airport.
