Kazakhstan will begin transit of Russian gas to Uzbekistan only at the end of October, and not from October 1, as previously planned. Kazakh Energy Minister Almasadam Satkaliev said on Wednesday, Vlast.kz reported.

According to him, repair work on the gas pipeline is still underway, and Kazakhstan has not yet received the necessary requisition.

Repair work is being completed in Kazakhstan with the allocation of a separate line for gas metering and commissioning work related to the possibility of ensuring transit is underway, he said.

Almasadam Satkaliev added that gas volumes were still being agreed upon, and Kazakhstan would be able to announce them as soon as a request is received.

In June, the government of Uzbekistan and Gazprom signed an agreement on the supply of Russian gas to the country, as well as a roadmap for preparing the gas transportation system for receiving and transporting fuel.

The Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan reported that the agreement with Gazprom was entered into for two years, the volume of supplies will be 9 million cubic meters per day, the annual volume will be almost 2.8 billion cubic meters.
