There were 16,685 foreign-invested enterprises as of July 1, 2025 in Uzbekistan, which is by 2,805 more compared to the same period last year, the National Statistics Committee said in a report today.
The growth in the number of foreign-invested enterprises was primarily due to the increase of trade firms (plus 1,205 companies to the last year), information and communication firms (+256) and construction companies (+271).
More than half (64.2%) of all such enterprises are in Tashkent city. Among the provinces the top three are Tashkent province (12.3%), Samarkand (3.7%) and Surkhandarya (3.3%).
China still tops the ranking on 4,192 enterprise, or 25.1% of the total. In 2024, it ousted Russia for the first time, increasing its presence by almost 44%. In the first half of 2025, China added another 835 enterprises (+24.9%).
For comparison, Russian companies increased by 161 (total 3089), Turkish - by 181 (2007), Kazakhstani - by 116 (1157). Also among active investors are South Korea and Afghanistan firms (4.1% each).
