On May 5, 2026, the Romanian vocal ensemble Jazzappella will take the stage in Tashkent. This unique group-project reimagines jazz, pop, and folk music through the lens of “a cappella at its finest.”
The concert will begin at 7:00 PM on the open-air grounds behind the International Forums Palace “Uzbekistan” (Uzbekistan Avenue, 80) as part of the International Jazz Festival (running from April 28 to May 13, 2026). Organized by the Art and Culture Development Foundation of Uzbekistan, the event is supported by the Embassy of Romania in Uzbekistan and the Romanian Cultural Institute. Admission is free to the public.
Romania has a strong track record at the Tashkent International Jazz Festival, having been represented by musician Petre Ionuțescu in 2024 and the band Ineffable in 2023—both of whom received enthusiastic standing ovations.
Founded by singer, pianist, and composer Zoltán András, Jazzappella honors the traditions of the 20th-century vocal masters while infusing them with original arrangements and the vibrant energy of complex rhythms and harmonies. Having graced prestigious stages from Bucharest to Istanbul, the ensemble is now set to make its debut before a Tashkent audience.
According to a statement by the Romanian Ambassador, Daniel Cristian Ciobanu, bilateral cooperation with Uzbekistan is thriving across all sectors. Romania views Uzbekistan as a vital partner in Central Asia. In 2022, the Embassy of Romania was honored with a Certificate of Appreciation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan for its significant role in strengthening both bilateral and multilateral relations.
Romania maintains a vibrant and highly regarded cultural presence in Uzbekistan.
