Pakistani government delegation led by the Minister of Trade of Jam Kamal Khan landed in Tashkent for the 9th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade-Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation, as well as the Uzbekistan-Pakistan Business Forum, where a number of bilateral agreements were reached.
Joint working group has been formed at the level of deputy ministers of trade on expanding the list of items as part of the Preferential Trade Deal. The delegations discussed the organizational issues regarding the opening of a trading house by Diners Group of Pakistan in Tashkent and the establishment of an Uzbekistan trading house in Lahore in the future.
The prospects of holding the 10th meeting of the Intergovernmental Joint Commission, the Made in Uzbekistan exhibition and a business forum in March 2025 in the cities of Islamabad or Lahore were also considered.
The parties emphasized the importance of upgrading the Uzbekistan-Pakistan ties to a new level in the areas of transport-logistics, trade-economics, and investment.
The Pakistani minister voiced the country’s full support for Uzbekistan's WTO membership.
