Pakistan's WaterCon company plans to establish a 500-hectare olive plantation in Yangiobod district, Jizzakh province. The project envisages growing olives, processing them and exporting the finished products under the Made in Uzbekistan brand.
Citing the Uzbekistan embassy in Pakistan, the Dunyo news agency reported that WaterCon and the Jizzakh provincial administration have signed a memorandum of understanding.
The document was agreed during talks held as part of the company delegation's business mission to Uzbekistan. The trip was organized on the embassy's initiative.
Delegation members met officials at the Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Jizzakh provincial administration. The talks covered opportunities for growing agricultural products, deep processing and deploying modern systems.
Under the memorandum, the parties plan not only to build a modern olive plantation in Yangiobod district but also to launch production of finished goods.
In later stages of the project, the olives will be processed industrially and packaged. The plan is to supply high-value-added products to foreign markets under the Made in Uzbekistan brand.
The parties have outlined the next steps for building the infrastructure needed to start the project and for carrying out organizational work.
