The Foreign Minister Kamilov today hosted the new head of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Representative Office, Yu Yu, the Foreign ministry said.
Yu Yu conveyed a letter from the UN Under-Secretary-General and UNFPA Executive Director, Natalia Kanem, about his appointment to Uzbekistan. The Minister congratulated Yu Yu on his appointment and wished him successful work.
The parties reportedly reiterated their interest in deepening mutually beneficial cooperation and improving the effectiveness of joint projects aimed at ensuring sustainable development and reviewed practical aspects of preparation for the census to be conducted in Uzbekistan in 2022 with the assistance of UNFPA.
