Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov held talks with Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs David Hale and Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Alice Wells, the MFA said.
The parties reportedly exchanged views on the current state of Uzbek-American ties and the ways to expand them.
They underscored mutual interest in ensuring the full implementation of the provisions of the Joint Political Statement “Uzbekistan-USA: the beginning of a new era of strategic partnership”, adopted following Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s official visit to the USA and talks with President Donald Trump in the White House in May 2018.
In particular, David Hale commended the enhanced partnership ties with Uzbekistan and expressed readiness to continue the upward trend in the bilateral ties.
He emphasized theimportance of stepping up the contacts between Uzbekistan and the United States at various levels and announced plans to visit Uzbekistan in the near future.
Alice Wells highlighted the dynamic growth of contacts in various areas, in particular, the first visit in the last 15 years of the Uzbekistan Defense Minister to the USA in July.
