The mayor of Tashkent has signed a decision to allocate 5 billion soums to Pakhtakor football club, according to a report on the decision.
The decision approves a proposal from the deputy mayor for youth policy, social development and spiritual and educational affairs, and from the Municipal Assets Management Center of the city administration. The money would come from the Tashkent City Development Fund and cover spending under a cost estimate approved by the club.
First Deputy Mayor for Financial-Economic and Poverty Reduction Issues D. Khudaybergenov is to submit a proposal to the supervisory board of Toshkent Invest JSC on transferring the funds, the report said.
Pakhtakor said in a statement that its main sponsor had left because of refereeing. “Wasn’t it enough that the team lost its main sponsor because of refereeing?” the club said, adding that it has competed with distinction in the AFC Champions League Elite for the past two seasons.
Background
Earlier reports said former Tashkent mayor and businessman Jakhongir Artykkhodjayev had ended his cooperation with the club. Pakhtakor had suggested in an official complaint about referees in its Super League round-24 match against Navbahor that its main sponsor left over unfair officiating.
