On January 2, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev sent a congratulatory message to the President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping, on the occasion of 25th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries:

It gives me great pleasure on behalf of the Uzbek people to cordially congratulate You and the entire Chinese people on the landmark date in the comprehensive and fruitful cooperation - the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and China.
The relations between Uzbekistan and China have centuries-old roots and date back to the time of the Great Silk Road. History keeps the vivid memory of examples and unique facts of sustainable trade, scientific and the cultures, traditions and customs exchanges.
China as a superpower has a great reputation and influence in the world and has become Uzbekistan’s close and reliable partner with whom we have strong friendly relations, mutual understanding and respect.
We support Your deeply reasoned and balanced foreign policy and the one-China policy on the fight against terrorism, extremism and separatism.
Uzbekistan is interested to further enhance constructive cooperation with China within the United Nations, Shanghai Cooperation Organization and other international organizations and financial institutions.
I am pleased to underscore the solid legal base between the countries, in particular the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation which serves as the core of our relations. It is with great warmth and sincerity that we recall Your state visit to Uzbekistan in June 2016, during which a historic joint declaration was signed. We are strongly convinced that they have raised the Uzbek-Chinese relations to the level of comprehensive strategic partnership.
Achievements in advancing the trade-economic, financial, technical and investment cooperation are particularly noteworthy. Uzbekistan appreciates China's consistent support for the major program of reforms and modernization of Uzbek economy. Large-scale high-tech investment projects in the industrial, energy, transport, telecommunications, agriculture and many other areas have been implemented with the support and participation of the Chinese side.
New Opportunities for economic cooperation have opened up after the launch of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.
I am convinced that during the upcoming highest level meeting in the near future we will have a great opportunity to continue our open dialogue with You on the bilateral and multilateral agenda in order to give a powerful impetus to the development of the comprehensive Uzbek-Chinese relations.
Taking this pleasant opportunity, I wish to You, Mr Xi Jinping, all Your family and friends a Happy New Year, good health, happiness and every success in Your responsible duties, and to the friendly people of China - well-being and prosperity" - the message of the President of Uzbekistan said.
