The sixth round of political consultations held between the foreign ministries of Uzbekistan and Spain were held today in Tashkent.
The Spanish delegation led by the State Secretary of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, the European Union and Cooperation of the Kingdom of Spain Fernando Valenzuela Marzo and the Uzbekistan delegations led by Deputy Foreign Minister Dilshod Akhatov reportedly agreed to hold the first meeting of the intergovernmental commission this year.
The Minister Fernando Marzo commended the launch of negotiations on new expanded partnership agreement between Uzbekistan and the EU and on Uzbekistan’s accession to the World Trade Organization.
The parties outlined concrete measures to further strengthen the bilateral cooperation and exchanged views on international and regional problems.
"The meeting between the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the King of Spain Felipe VI, held in June 9, 2017 in Astana, gave impetus to the Uzbek-Spanish partnership ties. The constructive and trustful dialogue between the heads of state has opened new horizons for the further advancing of mutually beneficial relations," Dilshod Akhatov noted.
The parties confirmed their interest in the participation of Spanish companies in projects in various sectors of the Uzbek economy, including the agriculture, electrical, chemical, construction and pharmaceutical industries, engineering, textiles, food industry and tourism.
