Last evening, Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov and deputy PM/chairman of Uzbekneftegaz Alisher Sultonov got into a car accident when they were travelling from Bekabad to Tashkent, a source in the government told The Tashkent Times.
The General Prosecutor's Office confirmed that a driver in Damas minivan, who was coming from the opposite direction, lost control and crashed into the convoy. As a result of the accident, Uzbek PM Abdulla Aripov and the chief of Uzbekneftegaz Alisher Sultonov were injured.
According to the source, the car conveying Alisher Sultanov was in the front of the convoy and was seriously damaged, while the PM's car was in the rear of the convoy and was damaged to less extent. Another man who was with the PM's car also got injured in the accident.
Prime Minister and UzbekNeftegaz chief Sultanov were taken to the hospital with minor injuries and are now fine, the source added.
