The chief of Bulungur district police department, Lieutenant-Colonel Sodik Abdukhakimov and the chief of Pakhtachi district police department, Lieutenant-Colonel Khairullo Abdukhamidov in Samarkand province were fired for "systematic violations", an official of the Interior ministry told The Tashkent Times.

After the high-profile case in the Kattakurgan police department, the Prosecutor General and the Internior Minister ordered forming of a working group to study the situation in the police departments. The group, led by the Minister of Internal Affairs, General Pulat Bobodjonov, included the senior executives of the President’s office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Prosecutor General's Office.

The group members visited Samarkand, Bulungur, Jambay, Kattakurgan, Narpay, Pakhtachi and Ishtyhan districts and checked the state of affairs. Similar check-ups will be conducted in all provinces of the country.

Earlier, it was reported that senior executives and several officers in Kattakurgan police department were fired.

Due to "lack of daily control over the service by the police staff ", the number of violations of official discipline in Bulungur, Jambay and Kattakurgan districts has sharply increased, the ministry commented.
