Uzbekistan is set to revise its tourist fee system to better reflect the economic realities of the tourism sector. The move is outlined in a presidential decree implementing commitments made by the president Mirziyoyev during an open dialogue with business leaders.
Under the decree, the tourist fee will be calculated based on the sale price of rooms and beds at accommodation facilities, with a single, unified rate applied across the board.
The decree also calls for a review of mandatory parking requirements for hotels, which will now be determined according to each property's surrounding infrastructure rather than a blanket standard.
In addition, authorities plan to offer tour operators discounts of up to 30 percent on admission tickets to cultural heritage sites when purchased for tour groups of more than 10 people.
A draft presidential decree formalizing these steps is expected to be completed within three months.
