Yesterday, April 15, a Tajikistan government delegation led by Prime Minister Kohir Rasulzoda landed Khorezm province. Khiva city hosted the next meeting of the intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, co-chaired by Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov and Prime Minister of Tajikistan Kohir Rasulzoda.

The parties focused on the promising projects in trade and economic, investment, transport, energy, industry, agriculture and other areas.

The volume of bilateral trade has doubled over the past five years. The number of joint ventures has exceeded three hundred. This figure is constantly growing. While, the there is still a huge untapped potential for its growth.

In addition, the heads of state and governments set the goal to increase the volume of two-way trade to $ 2 billion by 2030.

The sides noted that this required further deepening industrial cooperation, implementing joint projects in the transport and communications sectors, continuing mutually beneficial and effective cooperation in the water resources and energy sectors, consistently continuing work to ensure agricultural and food security, and paying special attention to the active development of cooperation between the provinces of our countries.

Finally, the statement of the twelfth meeting of the intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan was signed.

The prime ministers of the two countries also visited Ichan Kala in Khiva.
