Building of a construction and assembly base (CAB) commenced on Tuesday in Jizzakh province as part of the implementation of the small-scale nuclear power plant (SSNPP) project with Russian RITM-200N reactors, the press service of the Atomic Energy Agency (Uzatom) said.

Reportedly, the CAB will become a key element of the infrastructure for the entire period of power units зкщоусеы, providing space for administrative buildings, production facilities, warehouses and large-scale assembly shops.

The SSNPP project, implemented based on technology developed by Rosatom, provides for six power units with a total capacity of 330 MW (55 MW each) in Jizzakh province. The general contractor is Atomstroyexport, and local contractors are also involved in the project.

The Deputy Director of the Management Company for Construction of Nuclear Power Plants, Otabek Amanov noted that the implementation of the project will contribute to "maximum openness and awareness of society, strengthening trust and cooperation between all parties."

"This small-scale nuclear power plant with the RITM-200N reactor, based on time-tested technologies and experience of accident-free operation, will become a reliable source of environmentally friendly energy. Compactness, the highest level of safety and efficiency make the RITM-200N an ideal solution for the sustainable development of the province's energy sector," he said.

Pavel Bezrukov, director of the project for the Uzbekistan NPP project in from Atomstroyexport, said that the engineering division of Rosatom continues to work on preparing documentation for the station.

"The Russian SSNPP project will provide Uzbekistan with a guaranteed volume of electricity for decades to come and will become the energy base for the development of the province," he said.

The small-scale NPP in Uzbekistan is based on the RITM-200 pressurized water nuclear reactor, which was used in nuclear icebreakers and is a reference (experimental, tested in practice) for marine use. However, a land-based NPP with these reactors (RITM-200N, n — land-based) has not yet been built, so it is not considered a full-fledged reference. The implementation of such a project began in 2024 in Yakutia. In addition, this technology was previously used only in cold areas.
