The 76th Plenary Meeting of the International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC) will be held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan from October 24-28, 2017. The ICAC Plenary Meetings are attended by over 400 participants from the public and private sectors from over 40 countries.
The last Plenary Meeting of the ICAC was held in Tashkent 21 years ago in 1996. Member governments of the ICAC host Plenary Meetings, alternating between producing and consuming countries as far as possible and rotate from region to the other.
According to the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s order of June 28, the meetings will serve to expand international scientific and technical cooperation, address urgent scientific and technological problems of the cotton industry, attract foreign investment, optimize supplies and diversify the geography of exports of Uzbek cotton fiber and textile products.
The ICAC Plenary Meetings in Tashkent are expected to be attended by relevant higher educational institutions, research institutes, leading scientists, as well as students and young professionals.
The ICAC is an association of members of cotton producing, consuming and trading countries. The Committee was formed in 1939, with headquarters in Washington DC.
