For the next two days, the world’s cotton industry leaders, textile companies and sales agents will gather in Tashkent for the XIII International Uzbek Cotton and Textile Fair.

At yesterday’s Uzbekistan-Iran business forum in Tehran the Uzbekistan government delegation officials urged the Iranian businesses to establish and develop partnership ties and jointly implement projects.

The government delegation of Uzbekistan led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulaziz Kamilov will pay an official visit to Iran on October 16-18,  the Foreign Ministry announced in a statement.

Alisher Usmanov’s USM Holdings may buy a mobile phone operator Coscom (Ucell), CNews said. According to CNews, USM Holdings is in talks with the Swedish Telia to purchase Coscom.

Uzbekistan and Nukem (USA) signed a uranium supply contract, the Uzbekistan’s Foreign Trade Minister Elyor Ganiev said at the meeting of the International Press Club Wednesday.

Government handed over its share in the authorized capital of Uzbekistan’s only metallurgical plant - UzMetKombinat JSC for trust management to SFI Management Group, a foreign entity.

Uzbekistan Airways has selected GEnx-1B engines to power four new Boeing 787-8 aircraft. The engine order is valued at more than $230 million (USD), including a custom-ordered spare engine, GE Aviation said. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2018.

Uzbekistan and US firms signed US$2.6 billion worth of deals at the Uzbek-American business forum in New York on Wednesday, co-organized by the Uzbek Committee for Investments and Uzbek-American Chamber of Commerce.

In an intent to boost Uzbekistan’s exports in the US market, UzTrade, a company within the Foreign Trade Ministry, opened a trading house in New York. The trading house will reportedly host a permanent showroom of Uzbek goods.

The Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Greece, in cooperation with the Institute for the Development of Western Greece,  the Greek Nationwide Association of Industries based at Industrial Parks and Ellrosa Consulting Group Ltd. have launched the “Initiative for the Development of  Bilateral Economic Co-operation between Greece and Uzbekistan - Alexander the Great & Princess Roxanne"

Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan signed $ 1.2 billion worth of deals following the two business forums in Astana in March and Tashkent on September 16 (the former accounting for $ 840 million).
