The Uzbekistan Football Association (UFA) and German kit maker JAKO have signed a 3-year contact for the kit supply for various age teams, the UFA first vice-president Umid Akhmadjonov said.
Earlier UFA were reportedly eying to sign a kit supply deal the with German giant Adidas, however according to Akhmadjonov after a trial period with Adidas, the UFA decided to switch to another supplier. The exception will be the Olympic football team, which will wear the jerseys from the Chinese PRES-JOG.
“JAKO will annually supply us with 365 sets of kits for free, with kit consisting of 69 items, while Adidas offered only 20 items,” he said. The design choice of Adidas jersey, with which Uzbekistan already played 4 friendly games, sparked criticism by fans due to apparent resemblance with the Uzbek second-division team FC Surkhon and the English Premier league side Leicester City third kit.
Over the past years, the official kit supplier for the Uzbekistan teams had been Spanish JOMA.
