Surprisingly fired as coach of the United Arab Emirates last March, in spite of being the second-best-performing coach in the history of the UAE team, Paulo Bento has been offered the Uzbekistan head coach role.
According to some media reports, the 56-year-old Portuguese who understood that the conditions he considered necessary to take on the project were not met and, therefore, declined the offer.
As the various national teams race to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, Paulo Bento remains on the job market, waiting for an opportunity that will guarantee him the necessary conditions to return to action, preferably targeting the event to be held in Canada, the United States, and Mexico.
It is worth remembering that, throughout his career, Paulo Bento has already been to two World Cups, first with the Portugal national team in 2014, and then with South Korea, in 2022. The coach is reportedly seeking a presence in the third competition that brings together the best teams in the world, having left the United Arab Emirates team still well placed for this purpose.
