Uzbekistan's large enterprises produced 21.6 billion cubic meters of natural gas between January and July, down 15 percent from 25.4 billion cubic meters in the same period last year, according to the State Statistics Committee.
Natural gas output stood at 26.3 billion cubic meters in the first seven months of 2024, meaning production has fallen by nearly 17.9 percent over the past two years.
Oil and gas condensate output also declines
Uzbekistan produced 368,700 tons of oil during the reporting period, down 2.7 percent from 378,800 tons in the same period of 2025. Oil output stood at 424,800 tons in the first seven months of 2024, putting the two-year decline at 13.2 percent.
The drop in gas condensate production has been even more pronounced. Enterprises produced 567,500 tons of gas condensate in the first seven months of 2026, compared with 667,900 tons over the same period in 2025 and 725,700 tons in 2024 — a year-on-year decline of 15 percent, and a drop of 21.8 percent compared with two years ago.
Gasoline production rises
Despite the decline in raw material extraction, gasoline output has increased. Large enterprises produced 731,900 tons of automotive gasoline between January and July 2026, up 8.9 percent from 672,100 tons in the same period last year. Gasoline production, however, still trails 2024 levels, when 791,300 tons were produced over the same seven-month period — a decline of 7.5 percent compared with two years ago.
Diesel output edges up
Diesel fuel production also grew, reaching 683,400 tons in the first seven months of 2026, compared with 673,700 tons in the same period of 2025 — a year-on-year increase of 1.4 percent. Diesel output totaled 624,400 tons in the same period of 2024, putting the two-year increase at 9.4 percent.
Coal production likewise declined. Large industrial enterprises extracted 3.5 million tons of coal in the first seven months of 2026, down 12.5 percent from 4 million tons in the same period of 2025. Coal output in the same period of 2024 also stood at 3.5 million tons, meaning volumes have remained essentially unchanged over the past two years.
The State Statistics Committee also noted that no gas was produced through underground coal gasification during the January-July period of 2026.
Overall, the data show that output of Uzbekistan's core extracted fuel and energy resources — natural gas, oil, gas condensate and coal — declined during the first seven months of 2026. Among refined products, however, gasoline output rose significantly, while diesel production continued a relatively steady climb.
Uzbekistan's total industrial output for the period reached 795.4 trillion som, up 7.9 percent from the same period last year.
As previously reported, gas extraction totaled 18.3 billion cubic meters in the first half of 2026, down nearly 3.6 billion cubic meters, or 16.4 percent, from the same period in 2025, and down 4.2 billion cubic meters, or 18.6 percent, from 2024. In June alone, gas extraction fell to 2.5 billion cubic meters, marking the lowest monthly figure recorded so far this year.
