Tashkent plans to build 100 public toilets, and a proposal has been made to allocate 140.4 million soums for topographic work to determine where they will go. This emerges from a decision signed by the city mayor Shavkat Umurzakov.

The document is based on a decision to set up 100 public toilets along the capital's central and tourist streets, in its parks and boulevards, and around sites visited by large numbers of residents and guests. They will be built in 2026 to modern designs through public-private partnership.

Under current sanitary standards, public toilets are classed as sanitary and hygiene facilities. Depending on the project brief, the facilities may also include shower cabins, changing rooms and mother-and-child rooms.

Under the mayor's decision, a proposal will be submitted to the supervisory council of Toshkent Invest Company JSC to allocate 140.4 million soums from the Tashkent City Development Fund for the topographic work. The money is to go to a research and design institute for engineering surveys in construction, geoinformation and the urban planning cadastre.
