President Mirziyoyev has appointed Obid Khakimov as deputy chief of the Presidential Administration in charge of education reform, with a concurrent post as rector of New Uzbekistan University. He was relieved of his post as presidential adviser on economic policy.
Kamoliddin Mardonov was named the new adviser on economic policy. He had served as first deputy head of the Presidential Administration's Department for Legal Expertise and Comprehensive Analysis.
The appointments follow the president's decree merging the Ministry of Preschool and School Education and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation into a single Ministry of Education and Science.
Separately, Ilkhom Sirajev was appointed deputy minister of education and science in charge of compliance and internal anti-corruption control.
