President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić held talks at the Palace of Serbia, first one-on-one and then with their official delegations, the Uzbek president's press service reported.
The two leaders noted growing momentum in political dialogue, inter-parliamentary ties, trade and economic cooperation, and business and cultural exchanges. They said deepening bilateral relations would be helped by the opening of diplomatic missions and the establishment of an inter-parliamentary forum.
"Particular attention was paid to boosting mutual trade, primarily by expanding the supply of in-demand goods. In this regard, the sides underscored the importance of developing and signing a free trade agreement, establishing cooperation on standardization, and organizing joint trade exhibitions," the statement said.
Uzbekistan will participate with a national pavilion at the Expo 2027 international exhibition in Belgrade next year.
The presidents also discussed new joint projects in transport and logistics, light industry and food production, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, healthcare and the digital economy. The two sides adopted a joint action plan for industrial partnership covering 2026-2028.
The leaders welcomed the establishment of direct ties between Uzbekistan's Samarkand region and Serbia's Vojvodina province, as well as between the cities of Samarkand and Novi Sad. The two countries agreed to hold cultural days, joint film, theater and music festivals, and to foster direct contacts between their sports federations.
The presidents also discussed organized labor migration. Vučić said Serbia was keen to establish systematic cooperation in this area, and both sides welcomed the signing, during the visit, of an agreement on mobility and labor migration.
The two leaders further exchanged views on regional and international issues, including mutual support in multilateral forums.
